4-Day Guided Tour of Northern Iceland
Day 1: Journey from Reykjavík to Akureyri
- Departure: Your adventure begins at 8:30 AM with pick-up from your hotel in Reykjavík (or within 30 km from the capital). Heading north, we travel through stunning landscapes, making several scenic stops along the way.
Today's Highlights:
- Hvalfjörður Tunnel: Travel west through the scenic tunnel.
- Borgarfjörður and Borgarnes: Brief stop to explore these charming locations.
- Grábrók Crater: Possible to take a short and relatively easy hike up to the volcanic crater where you have a view over the 2000-3000 thousand year old lava.
- Glanni Waterfall: Take a short visit to this picturesque waterfall.
- Kolugljúfur Canyon: Explore this beautiful canyon and waterfall.
- Blönduós & Varmahlíð: Two picturesque villages where you can experience local Icelandic culture.
Optional Activities: End the day with a warm soak at Forest lagoon surrounded by birch and pine trees and beautiful view over Eyjafjörður.
- Accommodation: Check-in at your hotel in Akureyri around 6:00-7:00 PM. Enjoy dinner and relax for the evening.
Day 2: Exploring the Diamond Circle
- Departure: 9:00 AM from your hotel. Today, we explore the Diamond Circle, a route filled with some of the most spectacular natural wonders in Iceland.

- Godafoss Waterfall: Visit this stunning waterfall.
- Lake Mývatn: Explore this remarkable area and visit the Dimmuborgir lava fields.
- Námafjall geothermal area: Witness bubbling mud pools and steaming fumaroles.
- Dettifoss Waterfall: Witness one of Europe’s most powerful waterfalls.
- Ásbyrgi Canyon: A magnificent horseshoe-shaped canyon in Mývatn.
Optional Activities: Take a dip in optional geothermal bath at Jarðböðin in Mývatn.
- Accommodation: Arrive at Hotel Skúlagarður around 6:00-7:00 PM. Relax and enjoy dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: From Ásbyrgi to Akureyri We begin our day by further exploring Ásbyrgi and its fascinating geological history before making our way back towards Akureyri.
- Departure: 9:00 AM from your hotel.

Day 4: Return to Reykjavík with scenic stops Before heading back south, take the morning to explore Akureyri, Iceland’s second-largest city, known for its charming cafés, botanical gardens, and stunning fjord views.
- Departure: Around 10:00 AM from your hotel.

Optional Activities: Start the day with whale watching, jump aboard a ship and spot these amazing creatures.
- Accommodation: Return to Reykjavík around 6:00-7:00 PM. Conclude the tour at your hotel or another desired location in the capital.
Tour Details:
- Duration: 4 days covering 300-400 km daily.
- Lunch: There will be a stop around noon where you can purchase lunch.
