Reykjanes peninsula was re recognized as UNESCO Geopark in 2015. Geoparks are areas that contain monuments and landscapes of global geological importance. The area is therefore managed according to a holistic policy of protection, education and sustainable development. The peninsula is the only place in the world where the Mid-Atlantic Ridge is visible above sea level.
Tour Highlights:
- Kleifarvatn Lake: It is the largest lake of Reykjanes peninsula and one of Iceland's deepest lakes, about 97 m deep.
- Seltún Geothermal Area: Lot of clay, sulfur and other materials that give a colorful appearance.
- Bridge of Continents: Bridge between Europe and North America.
- Gunnuhver: Iceland´s largest mud pool at present prominent.

Tour Details
- Morning Departure: Pick-up at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Reykjavík or within 50 km of the capital.
- Afternoon Departure: Pick-up at 12:00 PM from your hotel. This tour includes the potential for an Aurora Borealis display from September to March (included in the tour price).
- Lunch: There will be a stop around noon where you can purchase lunch.
- Vehicle Options: Jeep 4x4, Minivan, or Minibus with an English-speaking guide.
